Kuala Lumpur is one of the most dynamic economic hubs in Asia, if not the world. As a result, it has become a hive of business activity with meetings and conferences taking place all the time. If you're lucky to spend a few days here, you’ll be wanting to know all the best places to satisfy your essential needs. Here’s our guide of what to do and where to stay on a 48 hour business trip.

Accommodation for everyone

Park Royal Serviced Apartments

Even if you don’t fancy staying in a luxury hotel, it is important to find a comfortable place to relax and get some good sleep. Around KLCC and KL Sentral you can find all kinds of accommodation, from 5-star stays, to budget hotels and even serviced apartments on Airbnb. Our top picks include Grand Hyatt Kuala Lumpur, PARKROYAL Serviced Suites, Invito Hotel Suites, and The Majestic Hotel Kuala Lumpur.

Coffee and wi-fi is all you need

If you are working remotely you’ll need a quiet place in between meetings, with strong wi-fi capabilities and of course good coffee. Here’s our favourite locations.

Feeka in Swedish literally means “have a break with a drink and some food”, and this cosy place provides exactly that. Their website says “Swedes view a feeka not as a quick caffeine break from work, but as a welcome pause that is part of a productive day.”

Perfect!

Feeka is in Changkat, Bukit Bintang; not far from Drift Dining and Bar and on the same street as famous jazz bar No Black Tie. They have an array of freshly made pastries, cakes, sandwiches and light meals to go with their awesome coffee.

For something closer to KLCC, try Doppio Cafe at Menara TH Platinum Park. They have an extensive coffee and beverage menu, plus reasonably priced pastries and sandwiches. It’s also spacious and ideal for business chats.

Lunchtime bite

Acme Bar & Coffee in KLCC has a delicious fresh menu of sandwiches and salads. They are also the masters of the big brunch. If you are in KL Sentral you could pop over to Southern Rock Seafood for a great seafood kick.

For something on-the-go, there’s also plenty of pop-up stalls and food trucks dotted all over the city offering a variety of dishes from noodles, burgers, Pad Thai, meat pies and even Mexican.

If you are here to do business, there’s a good chance you’ll be involved in a long lunch. Drift Dining and Bar has an array of options for executive luncheons, board meetings, meet and greets and speed-business lunch.

Chill with a view

After a busy day of appointments it’s time to relax and unwind with a few drinks. Or perhaps your boozy long lunch is still going and you want a change of venue? Either way, KL has the answers. Fuego at Troika Sky Dining is a must. Its elaborate cocktail menu, South American-inspired share platters and panoramic views of the city provide the ultimate escape from office-life.

For something more original check out Heli Lounge Bar. Other rooftop bars and restaurants include Atmosphere 360, Luna Bar, Bridge Bar and Mai Bar.

To feel the beat of the city and get a taste of the local cuisine check out Songket Restaurant. This fine-cuisine Malay restaurant, offers authentic and traditional Malay food infused with a modern touch. They have traditional live Malay entertainment and it’s just a short stroll from KLCC and the Petronas Twin Towers.

Elysium is famous for its awesome terrace bar and great views of the city. They have live DJs spinning decks into the wee hours of the morning. If you’re staying near KL Sentral, catch a Uber up to Bangsar where you’ll find hip bars such as Bait, Mercat and The Social @ Bangsar.

No Black Tie is the city’s leading jazz bar and besides jazz performances, features bands that play lively Brazilian beats as well as blues and roots.
